Life Update:

A big hello to all my friends that I've been ignoring. Originally, I headed home (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada) from Morocco, because I was suffering from a bad case of vertigo. It took a few months to fix that problem (vitamin B12 deficiency). Feeling confident, that's when I started to plan my next adventure. Sadly, the planning had to be abandoned.

Towards the end of July 2024, I was having difficulty controlling my breathing one night (far to rapid … actually panting). A trip to the Emergency at the local hospital, quickly determined that I had an extra liter of fluid in my bladder and a catheter was required (quite a painful process). Further tests showed that I had a big blood clot in one of the ventricles of my heart … Also my Heart was operating at only 15% (Most people operate at 65%) and several blood vessels were blocked.

All of this good news was dumped on a man that ... Never drank alcohol ... ate incredibly healthy ... And spent a lifetime exercising. FYI ... In the days before going into the hospital ... I completed 2 long runs … 2 long bike rides ... And an 8 km kayak. All of which were pain free.

So, you can imagine my surprise, when I was informed that by using a ton of drugs, it would take approximately 3 months to dissolve the offending blood clot. After that, I would require bypass surgery on my heart.

Well ... The blood clot was completely dissolved after 2 months of medication and I'm scheduled to have the surgery in January of next year. As of today, I still have a catheter in place and am awaiting training to self catheterize.

As more information becomes available, I'll try to keep you all updated … WISH ME LUCK … I'll need it.
